Nick McKinlay

Director Of Instruction

Nick has been teaching for over 20 years and has taught thousands of individual lessons, corporate groups and golf schools during this time.

Nick also spent time playing golf professionally, and has had the opportunity to be around, and play with some of the best in the game. Nick won many prestigious tournaments such as the 2004 Utah PGA Assistants Championship, the 2005 Utah Open Championship, 2005 Salt Lake City Open, and the 2006 and 2007 Coral Canyon Open.

Nick was trained and coached by Claude Harmon III. Claude is one of the top Instructors in the world and has past and present students including Ernie Els, Adam Scott, Darren Clarke, Trevor Immelman, Justin Leonard, and many others. Nick is fortunate enough to being further mentored by Billy Casper.

Because of Nicks knowledge and experience, he is not only able to help his students with the correct fundamentals of the golf swing and short game, but he is able to offer a players perspective on things, and help his students learn how to score and play better on the golf course through course management. Nick believes that as it is important for golfers to learn the correct fundamentals for success, it is just as important to learn how to think, and properly manage your game around the course, which leads to lower scores.

Kevin Johnson

Mental Coach

Kevin received a Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He has been a practicing and successful counselor, mental game coach for the past 10 years, and has been able to help countless people in their lives. Kevin is an avid golfer having enjoyed the game for nearly 30 years and is acutely familiar with the love of the game of golf and that desire to continually improve.

In golf and in life it is clear that the way we think will influence the success we have. There is no question that the right fundamentals and equipment are critical elements to improving golf skills and scores, but at the Billy Casper Golf Academy we also recognize the importance of tuning and improving our most important tool, our mind. Errors in our thoughts that can effect our lives and emotional well being – will also affect our golf games. Kevin believes there is no limitation that cannot be overcome and no goal that is too big to accomplish when in the proper state of mind and thinking properly.
